Nowe wnętrze czyli "patrz i dotykaj"

Wiele z ulepszeń modeli 25 i 45 - w roku 2003 - dotyczy atmosfery w kabinie i oparte są one na rozwiązaniach zastosowanych w uznanym modelu 75. Od nowego roku dostępne dwa nowe kolory wykończenia wnętrza: "Puma" - ciemno niebiesko-szary oraz "Smokestone" - lekko szary. Wygodne schowki

Dostępnych jest teraz wiele bardzo przestronnych i elegancko wyglądających schowków. Zaczepy, podstawki na kubki uchwyty na długopisy zostały dodane do wyposażenia w modelach 25 i 45. W przednich drzwiach umieszczono dodatkowe "kosze" zaś w modelu 25 umieszczono nawet schowek na płyty kompaktowe. 45-tka zyskała - w panelu środkowym - odczepiany uchwyt na dwa kubki.

Ostrzejsze prowadzenie Rovera 45

Podążając za potrzebą rynku "stuningowano" - nieco na wzór modelu MG ZS - zawieszenie w nowym Roverze 45. Zostało ono prawie całkowicie przebudowane, poprawiono m. in. jego geometrię i jednocześnie obniżono je o 10 mm. Ponadto poprawiono układ kierowniczy. Obecnie samochód lepiej reaguje na "polecenia" kierowcy i jazda nim stała się bardziej komfortowa.

Poprawki w zabezpieczeniach

Bezpieczeństwo samochodu to nieustająca walka między inżynierami a złodziejami. Nowe modele ROVERA będą wyposażone w dodatkowe urządzenia zabezpieczające - od ulepszonych systemów elektronicznego zabezpieczenia pojazdu (np. blokada zapłonu) po dodatkowo wzmocnione zamki z w drzwiach tylnych i klapie bagażnika. Zamki blokujące drzwi zostały skrócone a alarm będzie miał własne, niezależne, źródło zasilania. W modelach 25 został przerobiony korek wlewu paliwa tak aby zamkniecie było bardziej skuteczne. Czujniki zabezpieczenia elektronicznego w modelach 25 i 45 uzyskały pierwsza klasę w rankingu zabezpieczeń Thatcham Category.

Felgi i lakier

Zmiany zewnętrzne Roverów roku modelowego 2003 obejmują dwa nowe rodzaje 15-calowych felg aluminiowych. Sześcioramienne "Serpent" zastępują model "Coronet" a nowością są 12-ramienne "Turbine". The 2003 Model Year Rover 25 and 45 ranges have many new features for enhanced convenience, security and style, which strengthen their "family links" with the award-winning Rover 75.

In the UK the latest Rover 25 and 45 ranges share the market debut of the new Trafficmaster Traffic Alert system, fitted to both ranges. Investment in these improved small and medium Rovers has been focussed on delivering genuine improvements and benefits.

New technology and convenience features
As standard equipment on all UK market 25 and 45 models, a new traffic congestion-warning device is built into a new digital fascia clock. This uses signals from the Trafficmaster network to provide live traffic information, warning of congestion on motorways and trunk roads in three zones - three motorway junctions or up to 5, 10 or 15 miles on trunk roads from the car's current position (full details available in a separate release).

Further driver-assistance technology is introduced in the form of rear parking distance sensors, standard on all Rover 45s, optional on the 25 range, while a Becker Satellite Navigation unit is now available as an option across both ranges. This Becker "1DIN" navigation unit incorporates a high spec CD tuner, and can play CDs whilst navigating the driver to his/her destination. With the UK and European markets contained on a single CD, the unit can store the last 50 destinations within its memory for ease of retrieval.

In recognition of modern requirements, the cigar lighter has been replaced by a power socket, for mobile phones or other power accessories as a standard fitting on all models. The cigar lighter can be substituted as an identified no cost option. To cater for all these new factory-fit features, upgraded wiring harnesses have been developed.

New interior "see and touch" features
Much of the 2003 improvement programme centres on the 25 and 45 cabin ambience, picking up some cues from the much-admired Rover 75 interior. For example there are new instrument graphics on "parchment" coloured dials similar to those of the 75, new graphics for the heating and ventilating controls, new steering wheel and gear knob designs and a new straight-grain Rosewood effect for fascia and door garnish inserts. New, modern-style ICE equipment from the Blaupunkt range is now specified across the 25 and 45 ranges.

A new range of seat fabrics and interior colourways give a significant lift to the interiors, especially on the 45, which now has a duo-tone fascia. The two new interior trim colourways are "Puma" - a dark blue//grey, and "Smokestone", a light grey." Geo", "Alpha" and "Mode" fabrics are used in attractive new seat panel combinations according to model, with leather retained for the top trim levels. On Rover 45, the front seats have been completely re-designed to give improved location and support, with further developments to maximise interior occupant space.

Convenient stowage
A number of new features have been added. Available in the stowage pack: a neat folding stowage box tailored to suit the floor area, stores flat when not required. It assembles in seconds with Velcro fixings. A button-type hook ("curry" or other shopping bag hook) in the boot on both sides is provided in Rover 25 and 45. Cup holders and pen clips are added to both ranges, with front door bin fittings, on all 25 models that also incorporate stowage slots for CDs. A detachable twin cup holder insert for the centre console oddments box is fitted on all 45 models.

Sharper steering for Rover 45
Following mass acclaim of the chassis tuning that went into the MG ZS, engineers have applied a judicious touch of honing to the new Rover 45 chassis set up. The steering rack ratio has been raised and the suspension lowered by 10 mm. The front suspension lower arms now have firmer bushing, and the rear suspension geometry has been slightly re-tuned. Spring, damper and anti-roll bar specifications have all been modified according to model, with the result that the latest Rover 45 models have more responsive handling while retaining the expected degree of Rover refinement and ride comfort.

Security improvements
Vehicle security is a continuous battle against ingenious and fast-learning thieves. The latest Rover 25 and 45 models will have extra security measures including improved shielding of security-associated electronic items, ignition locks, rear door locks and boot/tailgate locks. The sill locking buttons have been shortened and alarm sounders now have separate battery back-up. Special new anti-tamper arrangements have been made for the VIN plate and the Rover 25 fuel cap locking is upgraded. The enhancements and the option of volumetric sensors to both models result in a Thatcham Category 1 security rating.

Alloys & paint
External changes for the 2003 model year include two new alloy wheel styles - a 15" "Serpent" six-spoke style wheel replaces the former "Coronet" design and a new attractive 15" Turbine 12-spoke alloy wheel. Two new paint colours are also introduced, with Royal Blue replacing Tahiti and Starlight Silver replacing Platinum.
